Electrical Modifications

Only having 150W to work with, limited my electrical mods to this bike. I focused my mods on the "necessities" and left the cappuccino machine for the 990 to haul around.

First and foremost was mounting a GPS. I had received Garmin's excellent 60CSx for my birthday, so I mounted it using Touratech's locking aluminum mount and hardwired it to the battery. This mount allows me to leave it on the bike while running in to the gas station.

Next up was a set of heated grips as they go along way when it is cold and you can't feel your hands. I purchased a set of the KTM heated grip inserts and mounted them under my Spider Grips. I utilized a 20 Amp relay switched off the ignition, so I hopefully wouldn't leave them on and drain the battery. I also put a SAE junction on the cabling near the airbox, so I could change the battery easily in case I did run the battery down.

The stock switches left much to be desired. I ended up going with a leftover kill/starter switch from my 990 (KTM#: 60011074100). This was not a direct plug in however and required disassembling the switch and resoldering a wire to get the kill switch to function properly.

I also swapped out my turn signal switch with one from Sicass Racing, which is approximately 1/2 as wide. I'm too used to the stock KTM switch however as I have it on my 990, so I think I'll switch back.

My final electrical modifications were to the tailight assembly, I purchased this slick setup from Sicass Racing.
