Purchased new in July 2006. I’ll admit I never really understood the Buell thing, who would take a state of the art chassis top it off with numerous creative design ideas, and then handicap it with a hopped up dinosaur motor. That is until I rode one. Everything just seems to work the way a motorcycle should and brings an ear to ear grin to your face whenever you ride it. As for the Harley Davidson based engine, yes it shakes like a hotrod at idle, but it is remarkably smooth once underway. It gives you instant thrust at anything over 3000 RPM, and gives the Buell loads of character. As for versatility, this bike has it in spades. If I only could have one motorcycle, this would be it. I’ve used it for long distance touring, off roading, sport riding, commuting, and even shopping. All in all, this has become my ultimate bike, and it shows. As of July 2007, I’ve almost caught the DRZ in terms of mileage, (approx 10,200mi), despite owning the DRZ for over a year more. |
