Suspension:
The stock suspension works well for trail riders in the 150-180lb range. The Dizzer’s suspension is actually very good for a stock dual sport, providing a very plush ride over rough terrain. If pushed hard it is easy to overwhelm the stock suspenders however, especially when jumping the bike. The DRZ pilot has to remind him/herself that this is not a motocrosser, but a trailbike with some adventurous manners.
Switching to a 7W fork oil and going up one or two rates on the
shock spring will provide a much tauter and controlled ride whilestill providing enough softness to deal with the small stuff.
Heavier or aggressive riders will need to respring the bike with one to two rates stiffer in both the fork and shock and possibly have both ends revalved.
